Re: Having trouble with dimensions... Mariner 4 to Seahawk 500

So this is a copy of the info I gave last night..... It isn't 100%accurate but it's pretty close:
OK.... I don't have the keel inflated so you will have to take that into account, however it isn't anything dramatic. From floor of garage to top of tubes in the middle is about 15 inches... The front and back actually do tilt up slightly so that from floor to bow/stern is actually 17/18 inches... now, if you're interested.... To the top of the motor mount is exactly 19". And that is adjustable by a few inches either way.

Now, width....26" at the most narrow point of the tubes. I made my floor 27" so I basically just drop it in on top of the existing floor (that's personal preference, others have completely taken it out). Tubes are 14"all around. Outside to outside is around 56" (kinda tough to measure). And it's about 14" from boat floor to top of tubes (middle).

So if the width of the M4 is 27 inches inside, what is the length in inches of the inside?

Re: Having trouble with dimensions... Mariner 4 to Seahawk 500

So I am gaining 2 extra inches inside width and 20 extra inches inside length. The tubes are also a couple extra inches higher in the middle. I am also gaining an extra 300lbs cargo capacity as well as stronger material and a much nicer looking boat with oar locks.

When I get my boat I will take some nice pictures and put the exact measurments on them, easy reference for all.

I'm not sure about your previous boat but don't discount the inflatable keel in this one too. I think it really adds value - better tracking & stability. You're going to love your new boat!

MrDr:
Of course I show up when there's talk of the M4! Remember I started out with the Sevylor HF360 and had those green on green seats? I use them for the M4, but the color isn't ideal. Well I'm not going to spend another $45-$50 just to get them in a new color, but over the winter, I've tried something that could work. A rubber spray in red, for the seat cushions! I've read it holds up, and sure looks like it will, but it's still too cold here as well, to take my boat out. Soon though! I'll let you know if it works.

Well well well..... Look what the winter brought us! Copper! Any boating activity lately on that side of the country? Can't wait to see pics of the new paint!

I admit I have the winter blues and can't wait to get my m4 back on the water.... I did get a new outboard a couple weeks ago... A Johnson 2hp!

So I saw! I'm envious! That sounds like the perfect size for the M4!

I won't take mine out yet but I am going trout fishing tomorrow morning on a friend's 14' aluminum. It's 32F now @ 3:30 in the afternoon, and the high tomorrow is supposed to be 35F. Crazy maybe, but I'm itching to get out there! It's been 3-4 weeks!

How about those Seattle Seahawks, huh!? What a game!.

After reading a stupid amount of data this is what I came up with, I am hoping you guys can confirm it for me.

The 30lb Kota on setting 5 uses the same amount of power as the new 55lb Endura Max on setting 3.(They ditched resistor technology and made it all digital PCB for better performance).

The 55lb Endura Max is equal to a 2hp OB.... but the OB can travel way farther.

Copper.... That was no game my friend.... Simply a beatdown! Yeah I'm excited about the ob.

300.... I'm not so sure, I'm far from the best person to ask about HP/#thrust but the info I found says roughly 85#=1hp. Again... I'm not trying to misinform because I don't know and I'm sure it's a well played out discussion somewhere else.... I'm sure you can find it in this website! But yeah def the ob goes further and I don't have to lug around that dam battery!

Re: Having trouble with dimensions... Mariner 4 to Seahawk 500

I heard 85lbs = 1hp as well but as the thread continued they brought in a whole bunch of other variables which brought the number way down. Cant remember where I read that but the discussion was way outta my league lol.

I think im going to give the Costco deep cell batteries a try,
I read on some reviews thay the Minn Kota power center will accept certain size 29 batteries as well as the claimed 24 and 27. I love it when research pays off!

Yeah man.... I have the power center and it's awesome! I use it to power GPS, charge phone, inflater.... So many other things and I never drain my battery below 1/2 power. I'm glad you got you mariner on the way. What mods do you plan on doing?

Re: Having trouble with dimensions... Mariner 4 to Seahawk 500

Ohhh lets see..... Hard floor, sun shade, custom motor mount, possibly chairs.. not a fisherman so I dunno, guess I gotta sit in it first and see what is comfortable. Depending on the amount of room I would like to have a compartment across the middle of the boat with the power center and cooler inside so they are out of the sun. I weld all different shapes and sizes of aluminum for a living so the possibilities are endless with me lol Oh yes and most diffidently cup holders!!! I cant wait!

That's cool man... I can't wait to see some pics.... With the ideas you put out there in the m4 thread there is a guy named heath and you should watch his video... He did a very nice center console similar to what you describe.

Ya I seen the East Tennessee Fishing video's, almost the same idea. Minus the live well, pvc piping for his transducer, massive board across the back....I like his console and hard floor with optional chairs but I wonder how much all that weighs in at with two people?

Re: Having trouble with dimensions... Mariner 4 to Seahawk 500

Would have to ask him but I work at Lowe's and if he used 1/2" ply I can't imaging he has more than 60lbs in floor and console.... Minus that and you still have 820lbs to work with.... You'll be fine!

Re: Having trouble with dimensions... Mariner 4 to Seahawk 500

I got the boat today!!!
It sure is nice but I couldn't help but notice a lot of small white lines and dents in the pvc.
Its like the sides were folded up creating a really sharp crease and now the lines have gone from grey to white... from the material being stretched I assume. The dents feel like they go half way through the material, looks like something was poking the sides, not a sharp object but a dull one that was there digging into it for a while. The red and black protective rings around the sides are nice and thick but there are 6 or 8 spots where the material is not glued to the boat, on the top and bottom of the ring in the same spot... just the way they make them? In one spot I can literally stick my finger behind the protective material. Being stitched together sure gives it a different look from my welded seahawk 500, there is a lot of excess material after the stitches are completed especially on the bottom of the boat facing forward, If I were only using my oars on the lake I would be concerned about all the excess material causing drag.

Do all yours have the same things? is this normal? Its not bad enough to return the boat I just expected much better craftsmanship then my seahawk. What are your thoughts?

Hahaha good to know its not defective. I got the Seamax 80D compressor the other day and that damn thing is quick, it pumps a chamber up in seconds! At 500L/min and 10psi I gotta be real careful not to over inflate.

Hey 300, happy to hear your boat arrived. Did it turn out to be a nice size difference seeing it in person to your old? Now its mod time. Take your time because if you finish all you need to do in a week or so, you will be stuck waiting on warm weather for a while. All of us have been waiting to use our winter mods.

Re: Having trouble with dimensions... Mariner 4 to Seahawk 500

I was hoping the size was a bit bigger but I cant complain cause its heavy enough already lol.

I just found some 1/4 thick rubber checkerplate flooring I think I might use for the floor. They also have 1/8 that I can use to wrap my console or anything else I might think of. I left my boat inflated in my living room over night to see if any of those lines or dents will disapear and when I get home today I will take some pics and measure it all up.
