Cape Ann has been down graded to a tropical storm warning at this time. Nantucket will receive the brunt of the hurricane which is expected to be a category 3 at this time.

Its good to hear Cape Ann will be spared the worst of it, although she could still see some pretty good tides and winds. I'm glad to hear you will be in a less effected area and thanks for letting us know..

Nantucket facing a Cat 3 is serious, it'll devastate the area. Thoughts and prayers are with those who will be effected by this storm.

Also, Rodbolt is from Kitty Hawk, N.C. and is staying put according to another post he made today. One thing I will NOT do is hunker down in a Cat 3.

Stay safe Rodbolt!

wow that must have been a helluva cat 2. that looked like alot of distruction. the only thing i have to worry about is earthquakes. just went through a 7.2 on easter. the epicenter was about 27 miles south of the border. run to high ground and may god be with you all on the east coast.

I am at the bottom of NJ.... near the Cape.... North Wildwood... barrier island.... I am right on the ocean.... and the sea is angry, my friends!

It's foamy, roaring, and the dolphins are riding/jumping the rough surf!

The Scarab is high and dry indoors. :)

All in all, nothing beats a Nor' Easter 'round these parts. Definitely not a Cat 3 hurricane grazing us... but she'll be a rockin' and rollin' here for the next day.

Ya ever hear someone describe a storm as a freight train? Yeah, when the winds get-a-goin', that's what it sounds like. You keep waiting for it to stop... but it doesn't. We're safe... and the sea will be a show, and I hope those in the Carolinas make out okay.

Not to make light of you east coasters plight, but every time I hear Earl,
I think of the tv show "My Name Is Earl" and visualize the hurricane arriving
in an old beat up pickup truck with a bunch of empty beer cans in the back.

A sense of humor never hurts in times like this??:D

Looks like NC dodged the bullet. Hopefully all goes as well for the rest of the east coast.

Earl is losing strength so its impact will lesson as it moves up the coast. I'm glad that it didn't wobble onshore in NC. Cape Cod will get a direct hit but the storm shouldn't cause too much damage and should be out of there quickly.

Here is a link to the weather underground website. Here you can stream live current NOAA Weather Radio updates, like on your VHF, on a computer or smartphone.

There are 162 different stations that broadcast depending on your state, possibly country, not sure haven't checked. Hopefull it becomes usefull to someone.
Well here it is:

Been there, done that, have the T-Shirt, the generator that powered my home for weeks afterwards (I was lucky - I still had a house), the leftover MREs and all of the bad memories.

Do yourselves a favor and don't take this lightly.

I'm so glad Earl didn't wobble as it near NC's coastline. Storms this size generally do and it can make a difference of a few hundred miles sometimes.

Hope everyone further up the coast fares just as well and enjoys their holiday weekend.:)
