What Health Insurance companies would you guys recommend--national companies? South east? Good rates, claims response, customer service etc. My current company went way up so I dumped them.
Thanks in advance. Maybe this will help many of us.

Re: Health Insurance

I'm in Mass and I have Romneycare and I love it. Doesn't cost me a dime. I think my scripts are 3 bucks or something. But free doc's/hosps/emergency.
My girlfriend in the next state over just lost her job 3 weeks ago and is now unemployed and paying into Cobra 600 bucks a month for insurance. And it's just her.

I can't say what I really think about the health care situation without getting this thread locked, or deleted.

I know what you mean. I work for myself (and my taxable income is very low... if you know what I mean) and was forced on Romneycare. If I didn't buy insurance or didn't enroll it in it I was going to be assessed a 1000+ dollar penalty for not having it.
Problem is... I'm screwed if I take a job somewhere to a degree.
Every job that offers health has their ups and downs. What they pay vs what you pay. 100%, 80/20 50/50 etc. Then there are all your copays. Insurance minimums
(kate has to pay 2G out of pocket over the course of a year for everything, before her health ins picks up the rest. So for example if she goes to the emergency room and the bill is 3G's. She has to pay 2, and ins covers the other grand)

I really do have the cadillac of health plans right now. And if I can keep my reportable income low enough, I get to keep it. I never really sat down and worked the numbers, but If I take a job someplace that pays high I might loose my 8-10K dollar a year health plan altogether, and on top of that start paying into a plan. Which would make it a 10-20K a year difference.

Re: Health Insurance

This will be my 4th company over MANY years to try. They all are the same. You have your age increases. Then you have your every 6 months increases. Then you have your usage increases. They say the Southeast has the highest HC cost so that is why Insurance is higher for this area and one of the reasons they keep having to go up. Increases have ranged from $30 to $100 per month. I have only made one small claim in my life time.
You either pay a high premium from the start and get good coverage or pay a low premium and learn that not much is covered. Or a low premium with a high deductible. You then pay your premiums, what is not covered and the high deductible.
So really low(comparably) premium Insurance is only good for Catastrophic claims. You will really pay all of the small claims and more yourself. I would hate to see what my part of a Catastrophic claim would be
So I just want to know if there isn't a company out there that won't scam you
