I picked up a heli-coil kit to replace a stripped mounting hole (one of the six long bolts)in my block.

A single heli-coil looks like it will only cover less than half of the threads of the bolt.

The instructions with the kit indicate "add aditional inserts for increased length applications"

Has anyone ever used two? Do I need two?

Although not indicated in the directions, I am considering using a thread locker (loc-tite) for the heli-coil. I've gotten mixed opinions on the use of the thread locker with the heli-coil, and I am looking for some feedback here.

Last but not least, any tips on snapping of the tang? I have a steel rod thats a close fit to the inside of the coil. Just insert rod and hit with a hammer?

RKwood

Finally, something I know something about (Force engines not being one).
Heli-coil length the diameter of the bolt will give you full strength. Having said that, if two makes you feel safer, do it. They are cheap.
I locktite mine in if it is where they get disassembled fairly often. Otherwise no. If you use two and/or use locktite run a tap thru before assembly.
The tang is easy to knock off with your bar or a screwdriver or what ever. Blow the broken tang out with air after you break it. (safety glasses!)

A magnetic screwdriver will remove the tang easily once its been knocked off.

Two won't fit anyway! The hole in the block is only deep enough for 1.

One worked like a charm, end up applying a small amount of red threadlocker.

Thanks to all for the info.
