lol. no I just said that things are getting brittle on these old motors when he showed the broken terminal, as I have the same motor and my throttle sockets broke when I tried removing them. you asked what a throttle socket was I explained. that's all. ill let you fellas get back to it now. and YES that screw is your idle mixture screw bassencounters. also if your carb is spewing out gas from the front while pumping its something wrong in your float bowl, its either sticking or the needle valve is wore. the bulb should get tight when the float and needle raise and shut off gas.

Ok, but will that bowl/needle have anything to deal with it to start? 2nd question does the mix screw have anything to deal with starting? I honestly don’t know. It’s just that I’m so close for it to start and I have no clue what to do. If it’s not apart of starting I don’t want to fix first. I want the boat to run and then fix the other stuff.

Is there a shut off valve within the fuel line or on the motor anywhere?

Shut off valve? I don’t believe so but I wouldn’t know where to look either. Catfish I’m going to mess with it tomorrow see what happens

I went out and it started up better messing with that mix screw.I had the button on throttle in and lever in the forward position! Once it started I put in neutral and about 10 secs later it died! When it’s tilted like it shows in the pic it starts up in a hurry, any other setting on how motor sits it will not start. What do I do next?

Make sure your fuel pump is working disconnect the hose from the pump to the carb and crank the motor. If fuel dosent come out you need to rebuild the fuel pump

I took that off and it had gas in the filter. Is this also the fuel pump? I’m learning parts with you guys replies. Thank you again. I thought about getting some seafoam as well. Will a kit do any good? I think I’m understanding what you mean. So basically the line that goes to the carb gives it gas correct? I didn’t know that. I’m not the smartest at this lol

You said: "I notice something through reading about a screw I can turn that deals with mixture? (Pic) I haven’t mess with it because I don’t want more problems. Also when I hit the bulb to get it started, once the bulb is full the gas comes out the carb dripping"
" Ok, but will that bowl/needle have anything to deal with it to start? 2nd question does the mix screw have anything to deal with starting?"

#1Gas coming from the carb? The needle/float need adjusting.
#2 If the needle is stuck in the seat it won't allow fuel into the carb.
#3 the air screw controls the air/fuel mix at idle. If it's to rich or too lean it will be hard starting. Set that screw at 1 1/2 turn out. Then it gets adjusted when warm and in the water, in gear.
Seafoam isn't the answer to anything. :(
If you feel the need to add anything to fresh gas? Add Sta-bil or Ethanol treatment.
Just remember to add more oil to the gas when you do.
I've been running my boat for YEARS!!!!! without any additives.

The line from the fuel pump to the carb delivers gas.
The last pic is the fuel pump. Easy to take apart and inspect.

yes that's the fuel pump. first pic. the slotted screw in front is for accessing the filter screen to replace or clean. the 6 slotted screws behind that will open and remove pump to inspect/replace diaphragm and gasket. second pic is your rpm idle adjustment screw silver one with nut above my finger. the last pic is the front carb idle air fuel adjustment.

Thank you! I replaced that fuel pump. The motor is getting gas for sure. I pumped the bulb and everything the fuel goes to has gas pouring when I unhook it. That mixture screw is off bad. I think I’m missing some parts pertaining my carb. It just seems like something is missing. All it has is a piece that covers the inside needle like a sleeve. Then the screw that keeps the bowl on....the float has a needle that slides up and down when I move that float piece. I’ll take pics but it just looks like something is missing. I want to sell this motor so bad! Plugs, starter, solenoid, pump, impeller all replaced and still about to start and stops. it tries to start to well that it’s running with the starter teeth still hitting the flywheel. That’s how close it is to start but it just won’t get over that little hump to just start!
