help determining year from this number..

R8194442 Evinrude 15 hp tiller handle, rope start short shaft,
was told this motor was a 1990s model, the model number plate is worn out on the mounting bracket so i looked on the top of head and got this number R8194442...cant find a cross refence to match this number to where i can determine exact year. is there another place to look on the head? or is there another plate under the flywheel that you cant see or something? any help greatly appreciated....thnxx

that is a serial number, not published, dealer are the only one with access.

Here is a link of a pic identical..same color ,decals everything to my 15hp Evinrude...trying to get exact year
i have narrowed it down to 1990 to 1992...mine has all the features of this 1990
shown in pic, such as pre set idle in tiller handle and thru hub exaust ect..does anyone know of any feature that would be on a 91 or 92 that mine would not have if it were a 90? there is no model number on the freeze plug thingy on the block, only a serial number on there and called local dealer and it didnt match up to anything he could find..so im stuck any help appreciated thnx..

ok, well i guess this means that the powerhead has been replaced at some point in time and or im stuck with the years 89-93......i guess thats close enough though.
