Hello everyone, I am looking to redue the upolstry in my boat and also paint. The paint that is on it is a green flake. I am wondering where are some good websites for ordering material such as marine grade vinyl and paint at decent prices. Also, is the flake paint much harder to paint than regular? Can I use an HVLP paint gun on a compressor which is rated lower than the gun requires. My compressor is a 33gal with 5.7@90 and 7.0@40. Any help would be appreciated. THANK YOU

I just placed my order with garys upholstery search for that. the prices are reasnoble the service was unmatched they got vinyle to match WISE seats perfectly i was pleased. Far as boat paints i havent tackled that yet. I hear Interlux is a very good paint for both tip and roll and spray. Again its all in prep for painting. I repainted my canoe last year with a 15gal compressor it took a long time but with patience i got no runs so you should be fine. Just be ready to stop spraying when the engine kicks on! im pretty sure you can paint with any air from 4.6 up Us composites offers a metal flake paint check there.
Hope this helps
Garrett

metal flake is hard to paint... if I remember right you have to use a low constant pressure and get your spray completely even or the flake will stand up or lay down depending on pressure... also not getting it layed on even will cause tiger striping.

Used to hang out with a very good body man... I have not done it myself just going by the questions I asked him when I was wanting to paint a motorcycle. :)
