I have a 1985 150 hp Mariner. It idles fine out of the water with rabbit ears on, But when I put it on the lake it will be ok when I first start it as soon as I stop it or put it back into neutral it dies then when I get it started it again it wants to put put across the lake while trying to die. I have to keep moving the throttle back and forth to keep it from dying. I will have it almost at full throttle and it putts across the lake then after about 45 mins or so of doing that it finally picks up to speed and takes off. but as soon as I kill it it goes back to the same problem. I have replaced the primer bulb and the filter and I have fixed the primer hose at the gas tank. Plus the carbs where just rebuilt not to long ago, and the lower unit was just replaced but I really doubt that the lower unit is the problem.
