Help-hole in crankcase-repair options

Here is a pic...see the hole just below the blue / black wires...

was thinking marine jb weld or maybe welding aluminum rods....would rather not have to replace whole unit, which I'm guessing would be very expensive..

with it open, the water that cools the engine squirts out....sursprisingly, I has been running for an two hours, no alarms, engine was not overheating, was pissing water fine....i just happened to take the cover off as I wanted to look at something else and saw water spraying out.

looks like corroded thru..no idea...rest of case looks fine...

There are a couple of options you can try yourself. One involves JB weld and the other involves drill and tap for a plug. Either method requires opening the hole up and cleaning it up with a Dremel tool so you can see just how much corrosion there is. I suspect however, the best fix would be to start with a small drill and work progressively larger until you have sufficient material thickness that you can use a tap to cut threads for a plug. That plug can be nothing more than a bolt with a fiber washer which forms a seal. Aviation Form A Gasket or similar sealer would make an excellent fix. Cut the bolt off if it is too long. Be aware that if there is corrosion significant to eat through the block at that point, it is also very close to eating through at others as well so don't be surprised if other leaks pop up down the road.
