i have a sears 150. model 64150. ive been investigating forums and i think its a 1964 15ft runabout. it has a chrysler sea king outboard 45hp electric start. other than that i cannot find a model# on the motor...and i need it...can anyone help. Ive been running a 50:1 fuel mix, and champion rj12c spark plugs @ .35. i think im in the safe zone with that combo. the motor runs great, starts with a flick of the key and purrs quietly. i also need to order shear pins for the prop, the original is brass i just have no clue what size. stupid submersed log. i also need to find the lower gear lube fill plug,i had to make one, its not going to last. and i need a vent plug i had to swipe one off my other motor, any info on where to find those?

Re: help identifying my boat and motor

My guess is the motor is West Bend or Chrysler built. Model number usually on the mounting bracket somewhere will begin with VWB.May be able to date by the number.West Bend used in 64-65 45-50 hp Chrysler approximately 66-80. West Bend was purchased by Chrysler circa 65.The boat a real guess.
Arkansas Traveler or maybe DUO which was eventually purchased by Chrysler.

Most chryslers have a rubberized prop not a shear pin. Part 12 is FK247 cost is 5 bucks for a 6 pack. Part 27 is 10-79953Q04 cost is 4 bucks and the washers are 12-191833 and cost is 80 cents each. These are all mercury numbers

This may not be your lower unit. It is the oldest one I could find online.

Motor is from 1964 made by westbend. Good luck on parts. You can try chrysler crew. Maybe they have parts manuals for that motor but I dont think they go back that far.

o179 thanks for the mopar link. hopefully the replacements will continue to be minor. appon inspection of the motor "searching for the ID tag" i noticed that i have a gasket blowing through. i dont know what the part is. it can be seen in my photo 0179 pic of the heads ans spark plugs. its the gasket between the case and that big rectangle cover on the left of the heads. has the yellow hose coming from it and goes to the head.

02x4, I've got a 1966 Seaking 50 hp that was sold by Montgomery Wards. Your engine looks identical to mine. When I bought my boat I had planned to put another engine on it but, after 10 hours on the water, I'm gonna keep this one. It runs excellant. Have you got a manual and parts list for that engine?

no i dont have a parts manual, or a repair manual. wish i did, im pretty sure i ran across a cd manual on ebay or somewhere dating back to 64, have to find it again. and at the chrysler crew website, i punched in my serial and year for both of their manuals and it went to cart, im going to call tomarrow and ask if they actually have them and what parts they may have. im having on old school boat shop owner cut me some brass shear pins tomm also. nice and soft. i guess i "spun the prop" on to strong of a shear back in the day and it sat for years hunting a replacement. im hearing alot of "be safe go brass".

Lone Star which was purchased by Chrysler in 1965 built some boats for Sears. I don't know if they did then in those years, but the boat resembles one. Word has it that Sears would pick out the cream of the crop of the Lone Stars and put their badge on them. If so they you have a good one there.
