I have a 1993 135 Blackmax. I am having a new issue which I believe I have finally narrowed down. I can run the boat idle and in gear as long as I am going slow. Once I try to accelerate to get to plane the motor feels like it has lost 75% of its power. Tonight I pulled the spark plugs and ran a few simple compression test and it seems fine.

Once I looked under the flywheel I could see a loose magnet that was hanging down about an inch. I believe it has swung around and knocked a tiny control arm off the stator which is attached to a lever. I am just wondering what the little lever does and if this is my problem. Also to replace that broken part will I need a new flywheel and stator?

Thanks Dukedog. I will definitely be replacing all of those items. I think this may be a dumb question but I am assuming the symptoms I was experiencing is due to the broken trigger? When you say it controls timin I assume when I call for more power from the engine that trigger allows more power to be generated to the motor?
