Hi, All,
I apologize if this issue has been beat to death. I recently acquired an older-model 150 Tower Of Power. I am unable to locate anything resembling a serial number on the outside of the unit. Can anyone tell me where to look for a plate or stamping of the serial number/year? I'd appreciate at least narrowing it down to a range. Below is some information I gathered from looking at it.
The decals are (or at least were at one time) blue. The cowl top has "1500" on it and a decal below the powerhead states "150 H.P." The shaft is a longer one (about 25", I think). The numbers I got off the block are "852-5591" and on the transom mount, I was able to find "1440-3255" and "Alcoa" stamped on it as well. Below the "Alcoa" on the mount is a little copyright symbol with "19" beside it but no year.
That's about all the specific information I am able to obtain from examination at the moment. It's still in the bed of my pickup and I've rolled it over several times in an attempt to get more information. Any input will be much-appreciated. Thanks in advance to you all. On a last note, any advice to the best shop manual for these things? I know there are a few publishers, but I want to get the better one. Thanks.
Bryan
