Ok I did a car kit and cleaned out the carbs, they were in fact prety clean, the motor starts better but I notice gas leaking out of the jets behind the choke valve. The gas is enough that it leaks forward into the motor houseing. I replaced the needle and seat. The old one didn't look that bad. Could this be a fuel pump problem? When I redid the carbs, I made sure the float was paralell to gasket surface. Like I said the motor starts right up and runs good on dry land with water bath but have yet to test it in the water since recarbing it.

Any help would be great.

Chris ;)

Take a look at your reeds... is it in one or both carbs? Does it just leak out or is it blowing out?

When you push the primer does it get hard, and if you keep pushing do you get gas to come out of carb? Is it both or just the one? Sounds to me like a float/needle prob.

Perhaps you installed the float or the needle upside down. When rebuilding carbs, the final check is to invert the carb and blow into the fuel inlet. If air (mouth pressure) passes into the carb, the float is either hung up, set wrong, or installed wrong, or the needle is installed wrong sticking open.

Do the tests that they suggested(the guys ahead of me) and remember just because it's new(inlet needle and seat)doesn't insure that it will work properly. I rebuilt the carbs on my snowmobile including new float valves and seats and one of my carbs was leaking through the overflow hose(only when sled was running). I put the old seat and valve back in it, end of problem. Good luck!
