I have a 1966 hydro-swift with a 150hp i/o. There is a tag on the carb, with the #'s 1351-5204A1, is this the numbers that I am looking for? Not very much info about Hydro-swifts out there. Yup I'm a newbie. Any help would be great.

Re: Help locating serial number on my 1966 hydro-swift mercruiser lower unit.

Hi there Barf, welcome to iboats.:)

The number you posted is the part number to the carburetor. I'm not sure on your 1966 engine model but on most mercruiser engines you can usually find the serial number right around the engine starter.

If your looking for a parts catalog for your engine, using the info you provided thus far, this should be your engine parts, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/selectSerailRange.asp?doc_nbr=150++GM+230+I/L6+1964-1966

I presume Hydro-swifts is the boat model?

A little hard to tell by your post, is there any other information your looking for?

Also we're going to move your thread down a few sections to the Non-Repair I/O and Inboards Discussions not involving troubles or repair as you posted in the outboard forum section.;)

Welcome aboard Barf-olomew!

Sounds like you're lookin' for an engine number, but ...

If you're looking for a Hull Identification Number (HIN) there may not be one on the hull. They weren't required until later in the 70's. It might be stamped on your transom or on your capacity plate (usually near the helm).

Hey Walt, on the valve cover and several other places on the engine it says Mercruiser, to me it looks like a chevy straight six. The outdrive was white but has been painted over black. I would post pictures, but my Iphone decided to die on me after I installed the update. Thanks for your help!

Hey thanks for your help! I am actually looking for the lower unit s/n, if there is one. Yes it is a 1966 Hydro-swift, the engine is a mercruiser straight-six (looks like a chevy 262 c.i. to me) there is faint stamping on the tilt stating Mercruiser. Also the throttle cluster has Mercruiser all over it, so I'm assuming that it is a Mercruiser outdrive. Thanks again!

Thanks for your help, I'll start the process of identification after work today. I'm actually looking for the out-drive s/n if there actually is one. Thanks for your help!

Heck I'm wrong again as usual. I took a tour of Hydroswifts plant in Murray, Utah and the owner, Jim Davidson told me that. Well I'll just have to set him straight.
Oh, and I have a '88 Hydroswift 22' cuddy. Bought it new, been a great boat all this time.
