I have recently purchased an 18/20ft Ring with a Mariner 150hp on the back. The whole outfit is around 1983. The problem is that the power tilt and trim works intermittently and most of the time it doesnt work at all. I have checked all the wires and put new connections on them and from a meter test the solenoids are working so all that is left is the motor itself. Someone has mentioned that the brushes could be worn inside. Can anyone suggest anything else because I dont really want to by a new motor unless its absolutely necessary as they are very pricey. Someone has also said that they have stopped making them for my engine. Can you get brush kits to replace them?
