I am in need of a couple of thermostats for a 1993 120hp "120TLET"
I looked on this site, but it does not list the 120hp. In looking at the picks. They do not look like the thermostats that I removed. The ones that I removed are black plastic with a screw stud on one end and a spring that is separate from the stats I look on the forum and posters have stated that the thermostats should be replaced with white ones. I am wondering if these are in fact the thermostats, does not look like any thermostat that I have ever replaced in the Auto business before
I have ordered a manual off of E-Bay.

I just bought this boat 19' Predator tunnel that was not used but once a year in saltwater. It started right up, but no water from the tell tale. There is corrosion around the head gaskets, but I am afraid to remove them (Snowball effect) I am a Master ASE auto tech and know my way around.

The question that I have is it worth removing the heads and replacing the gaskets or just replace the pump assy and thermostats to see what happens?

Thanks for your advise on this
Mike

Most parts can be viewed by opening the BRP parts catalog for your motor, or by going to the search bar and selecting "advanced" and entering only the specific part number.

The black plastic units are what you probably will want, although you can replace the vernatherm within them if you want to do it The nose unscrews to permit the change or to remove the vernatherm for testing.

Yes. The black capsule contains everything and is OEM part # 434137. The vernatherm within is the 143 degree thermostat and is OEM part # 436195.

The Sierra aftermarket ones here at iboats are part # 18-3500 and 18-3561 respectively:

BTW, if you do open them, pay close attention to the location of the vernatherm; they can fit backwards.

Re: help on parts and other advise

If the compression checks out, I would not remove the head gaskets. The corrosion you see is most likely from the paint being chipped and the aluminum being exposed to slight amounts of salt. Keep the metal on your engine coated lightly with Boeshield T-9 or even WD40 will help.

The corrosion level on the Big Bore Loopers is somewhat problematic, so be sure to keep all of your anodes in good shape, and disconnect your battery whenever you are not using the boat.
