hi i have a 1989 85 hp force that will not give me any top end.starts right up idles fine ive got 130 psi compression and good spark and plenty of fuel.cant get anywhere with it and need advice thanks

Have you checked your timing, could also be a blocked jet in your carbie.

Without mo info you'll stay nukin futz. RPM's? Idle RPM's. Details are very important!!

Still haven't mentioned your timing, I take it that it idles fine. Sometimes under load spark plug leads can break down or the boots on the spark plug. I doubt from what you are saying it has anything to do with the prop unless you have spun the prop bushing.

do you have the correct spark plugs ? how do you know you have the correct prop ? Have you done the link and sync at the top of this forum on FAQs ?

Does the motor rev up and no go?
Check the linkage for the correct travel.
Motor off.
Remove the cover, watch as someone puts it in F.
Turn the prop so the linkage won't bind.
Then push the throttle all the way.
Then see if the linkage makes the carb linkage goes all the way forward.
If you haven't messed with the timing then it's probably not an issue.

How do you know if the props right if you don't have a tach?
What size boat?
What prop?
Boat load?
