help pls. trailer grease seal problem

hi and how are you? i am a big problem and i need help, guide and instruction. i took out my trailer hub, took out grease seal, bearing and clean up the hub. put back new seal, new bearing and grease it very well. before i put the seal on i tried it and goes in and sit just fine, when i put the grease seal on and put a wood ontop and hit the wood for the seal to go into the hub. seal went in and sit fine and look flush with the hub. i went back to put the hub onto the spindle , it start going in and stops. i tried to play around with it while pushing it to go in but it did not . what is the problem and what have i dont wrong and how can i fix or correction this situation. thanks

Sounds like the axle size is not right

Sounds like the wrong seal to me also.

ok i will try to get pic. the funny side of this is, the same grease seal was sliding in the spindle by it self but when i put it into the hub it doesn't allow the hub to slide in all the way.

I would take it back apart and see if the bearings and seal will slide on the shaft.

I assume you replaced the seal because it wasn't holding in the grease. If so, maybe it was just reamed out enough to spin freely on the spindle?

yes i change the grease seal because the old seal was bad. new grease seal by itself with a little jiggle it slide in the spindle and the hub with only rear and front bearing it slides in the spindle just fine but when i put the seal on the hub, the hub doesn't slide all the way in the spindle.

I assume you replaced the seal because it wasn't holding in the grease. If so, maybe it was just reamed out enough to spin freely on the spindle?

You indicated that you replaced the bearings as well. That sir is the problem -- not the seal. You have the wrong bearing(s).

Thats what I suspect to silvertip and why I sugested a test fit.
