Help... poppet valve

I have a 150 merc 2 stroke and while changing the poppet valve, the inside grommet fell into the engine.(sigh... never ends) any ideas on how to retrieve it. item #17 in pic.

If you can shove your finger down that hole it doesnt go far. Ive pulled one up to the point I could grab it with a pair of needle nose pliers. No, Its not any fun. A shop vac over the hole will do it too.

Thanks guy's. the pic helped explain a lot, and the vacuum idea is one I'll try tomorrow. My stubby fingers couldn't reach in far enough.
And thanks to the moderator for removing the double post. I could not figure out how.

Sometimes tha tried and true 'ole coat hanger will get it..............at least up ta tha hole so ya can get hold of it.

Good idea Dukedog... now if I can just figure out how to un twist one of them plastic hangers. :laugh: :laugh:
