Got a manual and started shecking things out...the bolt that holds the shift linkage to the powerhead was broken --as soon as a wrench touched it it was free spinning.
Now the linkage will move slightly more and the prop seems to lock in forward and reverse after about a 1/4 to 1/2 turn of the prop.
That I think is good news...we just need to remove the powerhead from the boat to drill and ez out the broken shift linkage pivot bolt.
The question is- does the other issue seem to just be a shift rod length issue?
Meaning once the bolt is back in place...and if the linkage still doesnt quite engage...i assume that means the shifter shaft needs and adjustment?
Advice? How do most of you measure the shift rod length? do i need the OMC tool?
