Help selecting a new motor

I currently have a 14 ft aluminum smoker craft (1996) rated up to 35 hp. I am looking to buy a brand new engine for her. My main concern in being able to troll with two grown men in the boat at a speed of 1.5 to 2 mph. If possible I would still like to have some top end speed as well. Any suggestions on what I might want to look at to buy?

You might want to price out either the Yamaha or Mercury 30 hp motor. Manufacturers are mostly putting out engines on the whole 10 hp now--30-40-50-60 hp. Most people would tell you to get a 4 stroke motor, however a Merc. 2 stroke would also be fine.

Such an engine should run just under $5K not including controls or installation.

As far as trolling very, very slow, that's what trolling motors are for.
