After extensive searching the ol' interweb, I decided that this might be the best place to get answers. I hope I'm posting this in the right spot, I'm certain someone will tell me if It's not.

My WIFE bought a boat. Not a big one. Just something to go make memories with. I will share a picture of it as soon as I figure out how to but I think i need help identifying it. It's got a Mercury 650 outboard motor and the California title says it's a 1963 "Classic". The Idaho registration has the make as "CSB". Again. I'll post a picture as soon as I figure it out or I'm not using my phone.

have fun with it! I grew up on boats and those are memories I will never forget. Since marriage, I have owned 3 boats and they are and will always be apart of our lives. My kids are getting their own memories like I had.

always have to start some where

Sounds like an old runabout - 16' or so with a 65HP Merc.

What kind of shape is it in?

It's in decent shape. The local boat repair shop hooked me up with a new harness from the cockpit to the motor because someone butchered the original one. While there they did a leakdown test on it and he was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. It needs some minor work but isn't too bad. I got a couple good pictures of it tonight, I'll see if I can get them up.

your wife is a keeper if she was the one to buy the boat.

Yep that wife of yours is a dream to most of use here, keep her and your new toy. Cant wait to see what you have, I'm working on an old one too, not the wife, the boat!

[You hang on to that wife, I live right on the water here, All I have to do is walk down to the dock and go. My wife will have nothing to do with the boat. She says the water is to look at and not go out on it./I]

According to this:

Manufacturers Identification Code (MIC) Database

Your boat was made by Blackwell Boatworks in NC. You can take it from there. Good luck with the boat!

Nice try.. However.... That boat was built PRIOR to the database and 3 letter requirement......That makes the database obsolete with older vintage boats

Got no clue as to what it is, but it's cool lookin'. If the outboard is workin' it should be a fairly simple boat to work with. Probably a fun ride.

Looks like the trailer needs some new springs..... Otherwise cool ride.... Would look pretty slick behind the old ford there.

I echo the lucky guy sentiments. That's a fun looking little boat you have there. One thing though, please look into getting a winch and a stand for it. That single rope set up on the bow eye looks like trouble waiting to happen.

Re: Help! What did my WIFE get me into?

Most trailerable boats rot from the inside out while sitting on their trailer ! Make sure the bow is at least 6" above the stern when you park it and that the drain plug is out and there are nothing obstructing the drain on the inside. A good boat cover or tarp is a must. You really should check the bilge about once every week or so, year round, to make certain there is no water collecting in the bilge.

Or park it in the garage !:lol:

There are 2 more things that you should have the local boat shop do. Replace the impeller (it pumps water into the motor and prevents it from overheating) and replace the oil in the lower unit. Money well spent as it can prevent extremely costly repairs.
