Yes, mag wheels... What trailer springs?! It's got a 500GPH bilge pump and it's got a VERY flat bottom. No farther than we will have to tow it to water, I'm not worried about tires. I've thought about the cover but that's as far as it's gone.

I was also told a speedo is necesary so I picked up a water resistant 12V acc. plug so I can use my water proof Garmin GPS for that. I'm building a harness for the lights to run off of as well. I just gotta figure out a common ground, probably just off the battery.

I really wouldn't run the trailer w/o the winch and safety chain on your bow hook. That just isn't right, if you have to stop quick the boat will end up in the back of the truck. I would bet any LEO that observed that, would stop you, do you see evidence of the previous winch? She should be strapped down in the back too.
Giving the boat the detailed inspection regarding transom integrity (rot) deck, stringers under the deck and all that would be really good time spent if you don't have the boats history. It's a good looking boat, finding the hidden potential issues would be worth the time to inspect really well. When will you launch?

Your boat has some nice lines. But like others suggested, your trailer IS in need of some work. Absolutely needs new springs being how the tire looks like it is sitting against the fenders. And if I am seeing correctly, your bunks need replaced too. And you also have an interesting bow stop setup as well. But all those things can be fixed quite easy... Check out the boat well to see if there are any soft spots on the floor or transom. Honestly, it looks like a really neat boat project... I like it!

Very cool looking boat! I agree the trailer needs a little TLC or at least a winch cant really see the bunks or what shape the tires/springs are. All in all if the boat is solid it will be a awesome project. Im already picturing it gloss red on top with a gloss black bottom. lol

I will look into everything suggested here.

The floor of the boat is very solid and crawling under it the underside looks good for 51 years old. I completed the wiring of the lights and the bilge pump. I just need to finish securing the harness.

The bunks shouldn't be too difficult, I just need to figure out how to get that boat out of my way to do it. I might just look into a different trailer. It's got the cantilever style springs and I'm certain they're shot. The trailer really doesn't pull too bad. The tires don't rub.

Absolutely needs new springs being how the tire looks like it is sitting against the fenders.

Or it has oversized wheels and tires on it. Most trailers that size would have a 13" wheel.

Hey that's good, no soft spots in the deck. Check and see if someone has added a 2nd deck over the top of the original one. If everythings good then you'll be in for a re-carpet job.

The hull (ya know, the bottom, underside) looked really good. A couple,of scratches and thats it. Wed. I'm having a small repair done on the plate that holds the motor. Otherwise, as long as our local "marina" gives it a clean bill of health, we are going to TRY to take it out next sunday.

The trailer suspension is shot...

It's an aluminum plate attached to the rear of the boat to help support the motor so the weight is supported by a bit more than just fiberglass. The repair that it needs is around the drain hole...

Sorry to hear that.... The motor is supposed to be supported by the wood behind the fiberglass..... Very often the wood rots out and people try to bandaid with an aluminum plate.... Bad news

The wood looks good back there. I'll have our marina look at it though.

Remove one of the screws/thru-bolts near the bottom of the plate. Look for any drips of water coming out. Drip = bad :grumpy::grumpy::grumpy:
