I just picked up a nice 1960 40 hp Jonny super quite, Cleaned the carb & I am moving on to the ignition next, I have 3 questions (so far) I want to by pass all the water/exhaust gas hoses that operate the choke, I just want to use the very functional manual choke, do I need to plug/cap the nipples on the carb/choke ? Next what does the hose coming from the intake to carb/choke do? and last could someone point me in the direction of the thread that tells/shows how to set up the magneto / carb advance, when the magneto should start to open the butterfly etc. I intend to change all the ignition components and would like to read this thread prior to diving in, I remember a good thread that tells all about adjusting the carb linkage to the magneto advance and so forth but cannot seem to find it in a search.
