I rebuilt the tillotson carbs on my 1973 Chrysler 70hp 707HF. The bowl gaskets in the kit didn't want to fit in the groove on the bottom of the carb very well and I have a slight leak on each carb that seems to be coming from the top of the bowl. Anyone have this problem or know a good trick for fitting that gasket?

You may have gotten the wrong kit. FK10000 is the popular one but you might have a smaller bowl.

TMD

I got the carb rebuild kit from NAPA. It fits the WB-7B, WB-7A and WB-5a perfectly. Stay away from boatingsolutions.com kit-it sucks.

Re: Help with Carb rebuild

I have the Tillotson carbs and everything else seems to fit. I did have extra flange gaskets so maybe the kit is for several size carbs. I went to the lake yesterday and the engine ran good so the needle and seat must have been the right one. I just see a drop of fuel on each bowl mounting screw after reving and can feel fuel up to the top of the bowl. The "overflow" hole area is dry. I was thinking of buying O-rings to fit the bowl, anyone ever try this?
