Re: Help with choosing a floor

Looking forward to seeing a thread for this Islander, my favorite model:) Congrats!

That bow hatch is kinda unique, maybe for anchor storage?

Re: Help with choosing a floor

I think the bow hatch was added by the previous owner probably because the large fuel tank basically took up most of the room under the bow. A good spot for the anchor as you stated.
What sealed the deal with the Islander was that a new transom and a new interior was just installed, this boat was ready to go. I do plan to give this boat a complete paint job and outfit it the way I want it so I will post a thread later this summer or next spring.

Re: Help with choosing a floor

Well did some more work on the HL-180 today..... I removed all the controls, wiring, console, and the wood floor ! The floor was really bad , worse than I had expected. I managed to save most of it for templetes for the new floor.
QUESTION: The foam floatation is in really good condition and looks to be a pain to remove. Should I keep it ?? Also what do you guys recommend I use to fasten down the new floor with ? special rivets ? or should I use stainless screws ? Here are some new pictures....man I love my shop vac......!

Man that deck was in bad shape! Based on what I am seeing there I'd also want to see what is under that pour in foam.

Sorry my friend, I know that's not what you wanted to hear.

Maybe pay the neighbor kid $10 to get it all out?:D

Here are some more pictures,
QUESTION: Should I keep the storage hatch in the middle of the floor ? I think if I just not replace it the floor would be stronger...any suggestions ? Thank goodness for shop vacs !! Probably will not be able to work on the boat again until after the Memorial holiday, hopefully Tuesday or Wednesday I will start on the transom, then get the power washer out for a good cleaning.
