In order to do a compression test do you have to disconnect anything to make sure engine won't start up. First time doing one and dont know to much about it. Would you be able to give me directions to be safe? And when tAking out spark plugs and taking them out do i need to be careful of anything. I know its really basic but i need to learn.thank you

Ok so just to make sure i do this correct to get a accurate reading. 1st step is to disconnect lanyard. 2 disconnect all plugs and wires. 3 hook up compression tester. 4 crank engine. Is this correct?

Crank the engine by jumping from the battery + to the small terminal on the starter solenoid. This makes sure the ignition won't try to spark the plaugs.
