I am almost finished mounting my 1973 Chrysler 70 hp model 707HF on my boat. I am trying to use the evinrude controls so that I won't have to swap again when I put the rude back on. Can someone help me with two problems?

I want to hook up my water pressure gauge and I can't find a port on the block. In the picture I show a plugged port on the bottom port side of the block and think this might be the place.

I can't use the idle up lever because the throttle tower linkage hits the shift linkage (see picture) when it's in neutral and I can't remember how it owrked with the Chrysler controls. The throtle and shift cables seem to work the same as the chrysler control box.
Any help would be great as I'm so close to being done. Thanks

http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/atlgadawg/lst?.dir=/Chrysler

The throttle should move a little with lever from control as it only moves throtle cable. It is hitting the neutral throttle stop(so you dont over rev engine with no load) but at an idle position the throttle cam must have mark aligned with roller @ carb linkage.
As for the plug ill check on it.
Hope this helps

Thanks. I will try to adjust the tower cam to hit right on the mark to help the neutral idle up. Was worried that if I adjust too much that way it would rev more before going into gear and damage something.
Great people and great info on this board!!!

OK I think the throttle linkage will work fine now that i lined up the mark. But I still don't know if that plug in the picture will work for a water pressure gauge. Anyone know what this plug is for?

AtlDawg,

No, that is not a plug for a water pressure gauge. The water pressure gauge goes on top of the head (on top of the head and to the right of the thermostat).

I've got the same plug that you do on my Chrysler (85HP). I really don't know what it's for either. It looks like some kind of drain or something. Hopefully someone will post in here and tell us what that plug IS for.

Shane
