I have a Evinrude ficht 225hp 2004 and it has been interment blowing the number 10 fuse for oil pump and in the past I just change fuse and bring it back to shop and they try to get it to blow after 4hours of running the motor hard they could not get it to blow the fuse. I then went out for over a month running the boat every weekend and it still did not blow the fuse but the first day of a fishing tournament it blows so I replace fuse and it will not start so after getting back to the dock I put the diagnostic software it has a CPS Sync Error so I called the shop and they said to replace the sensor and it should be fine. After changing the sensor I still have cps sensor error and the motor will no start. Please any help would be great.
thanks

It is very likely that the wiring harness is rubbing against the block at times causing the short in the oil injector circuit and possilby grounding out the Crank Position Sensor wiring. Look very carefully where the harness goes over the top of the stb. cylinderhead and block. Also where the wires are close to #1 injector.

That is what they suspected but was unable to locate short. I have checked the ohms on the sensor. The existing not installed I got 1009 ohms and 1007 ohms on new sensor just bought. Is there a way to bypass this sensor to see if the problem is elsewhere? I also have saved the emm info if anyone thinks they could assist in figuring out the problem.
Thanks

It is time consuming trying to find an intermittent problem.

You will need a service manual and wiring diagram to remove the correct EMM connector and using an ohmmeter on high ohms, check from the correct socket to ground. Wiggle and bend the harness and see if the resistance changes at all. In extreme cases, you split the wiring harness and trace the whole lenght of the affected wires.

I have checked the CPS sensor and found that it is not the problem.I removed the one from the running motor and installed it on the stb motor with no change I am just puzzelled on why it will not start but I never had the starting problem when the fuse blow I just replaced then keep on fishing. The only thing I have not done is the basic stuff like spark and to check if it is getting gas.How do you check spark with timming light?
Thanks for any help.
