Re: Help with identifying an OMC outdrive
WhyWhy,
Well, I guess most of my stuff was correct. I was a very young 17 year old kid when I purchased a 1971 18' Cobia from a State auction. It had a 155 Buick V-6 with this OMC outdrive. This boat was a retired marine patrol boat, and I paid something like $900 dollars for it in 1979. Hey, it was a boat, and no one could tell me anything!
This boat turned out to be a nightmare; however, I learned alot about boats and motors from that P.O.S. Later, I pulled out the entire unit, filled in the hole, cut the transom, and put on a used 115 Evinrude which started my love affair with the trusty V-4 OMC outboards.. I swore I would NEVER own a I/O in a saltwater enviroment again. Just looking at that unit bought back those 30 year old memories, and I guess they were a little clouded.
