I can not see or touch your motor.-----I believe the clutch dog is rubbing on either reverse or forward gear.-----Easy to adjust.----If that is not the issue then you need to investigate.

Welp, ran it on the muffs the other day and ran great. A few days later I’ve now come to find what looks like the new seal around the carrier assembly is leaking. Did I use wrong one? The kit came with a bunch and I mistakenly threw away the old one. I cross checked with the part number online and looked like a 4” one. Can anyone confirm what size o-ring it should be?

I think I've figure out my issues, so the motor itself is a 1992, but somehwere down the line someone put a 1995 lower unit on it. After looking at both diagrams, the bearing carrier looks slightly different between years. One looks slighlty longer. I know I installed OMC #434400 (1992) and it looks like it was supposed to be OMC# 435096 (1995). Not sure if the old one I pulled off was even correct. Well I will get that corrected and post back.

I checked both carriers and they look identical. I went ahead and put new o-ring on and slathered it with gasket maker. Put it back on and still leaking. I can see where it’s weeping and it almost looks elliptical. Does this mean the case is indeed warped or am I not pressing it in correctly? I’ve got both tabs in and torqued to 22 ft lbs.

If leaking by o-ring and its not damaged the housing likely warped. That may be why it took a dump from intrusion
