well still cant get!!. I got the center of the cable out. I Still got the motor hoisted. I can not get the piviot out eather. My options are 1, use the dohicket steering on the transom. 2, takd the motor to the yamaha dealer and ask them to get the thing apart. 3, use heat on it without getting the piviot out and banging some more. My hands and arms are sore from hours and hours of hitting and cutting at it. Think i might use that transom mounted steering dohickey for the rest of the summer and see if the marina can fix it in the winter.

Ok i got the pivot out tonite. I rented a 6 ton hydrolic ram and still cant get whats left of the cable out. !!! . !!!! Wow. Well im in better shape cause i got the pivot out. Im going to take the pivot to a place tomorrow morning and see if they can get it out. Now whats in there is hollow as i cut it flush with the threads on the side it comes out of. And its only half way there inside the pivot. One thing i do know, is that when i get the new steering cable installed I WILL NEVER NEGLECT TO LUBE AND SERVICE THE STEERING CABLE!!!!!! I Imagine that they will have to heat it at the shop tomorrow. I lost about 1/4 inch of the threads on the side where the cable goes in. I dont think that is going to make a difference steering wise. I Have pics of the tilt tube with the old stuff still stuck inside. At least im taking a 3 pount part to the machine shop instead of a 400 pound part!!!!! Ill let you guys know how it goes! Im going first thing in the morning. Im off tomorrow!!! So ill have it all hooked up by dark. Thanks for all the help!!!!!
