just bought a 1993 Carloina Skiff. The hull is in good shape , but the doofus I got it from painted her with some kind of "duck boat paint". Does anyone have any suggestions on getting her back to white? Maybe soda blast and powerwash?

Re: Help!

I just bought a boat the same way. Goo Gone Extreme took it off with alot of elbow grease. Doesn't damage the gel, as long as you get some wax on it before she gets in the sun.

Re: Help!

thanks for the advice! got a bud with a diesel fired steam/power washer so maybe a combination of easy-off and goo gone will get her white again.
why would someone do this "duck boat paint" crap blows my mind. surplus camo netting is freakin lots cheaper!

Re: Help!

Hey, After trying paint thinner, lacquer thinner, goo gone, you name it, no good results  :( I tried Easy Off oven cleaner on the advice of someone here last year on my boat to get the big bold "painted on" name off the sides of my boat, and it worked fantastic! Be sure to get that brand, it was almost a wipe on, wipe off, that easy! And it didn't hurt the gel coat! I don't think you'll need a power washer either, But, be careful with that stuff, it is lye, and will burn you good if your not.

Re: Help!

Sorry to interrupt, but how'd you post a new message? I just joined and can't find anything to click on to start a new post. I emailed the forum master, but haven't heard anything back. Thanks for any help.

Off on a tangent..we do camo paint cause, when its all said and done its alot easier to transport my duck boat with alot of my camo being permanent, too much to do with hanging grass,ribbing..then netting..Naaaaa,I'll stick with paint.
and if its that big a deal..why did you buy it?:D
