goto www.newpig.com how big is the hole you have to plug up ? Is the rest of the tank in good shape or is it rusted out from what im reading you say a bolt put the hole in it so i take it the rest of the tank is in good shape a 1/4 hole 1/2 hole ??? If it is a small hole like 1/4 hole and you can get to it here is something else you could try if you want goto the hardware store where they sell metal roofing the screws that are used to attach the metal to the roofs are self tapping screws with a rubber gasket just under the head if you can screw one of those in your hole your gas leak will be fixed that might sound like a crude way to fix it but welding and soldering can't be much better if you can get one of those screws in i bet it wont leak anymore

yeah the rest of the tank is in quite good condition its just this one bolt that the previous owner went through the tank, by the looks of it he used too long a bolt and just forced it down, thanks for the idea with the tapping screws

d:) hi laddies just wanted to say a huge thanks for your help and idea with the epoxy i used this method and it worked a treat no more leak i didnt have a tap and die set so i ground down a nut and set that into the epoxy for the bolt to screw down into and now have big smile many thanks again
