Hole in lower unit

Ok, this is the third forum I've asked this question on and I really need an answer. I have an '89 35hp Force and there is a small hole in the lower unit right behind one of the bolt holes. When I started the motor in a garbage can, water was running out here. Is this normal????????? Thanks

I beleive it is a water drain. Let's the water drain out so the unit won't bust in cold weather!
My 89 125 has a hole about an inch ahead of where yours is.
