Hello all ,
I took my boat out earlier this season and it was quite hard to start , after further investigation I found that the accelerator pump was not squirting fuel down the throat of the carb when the throttle was opened .
I got a gasket kit and have it torn apart right now , I was fully expecting to find the diapram for the pump ripped or a plugged up tube , or pump nozzle.
however , everything looked great , all of the channels were clean and open , the pump nozzles werent gummed up and the diaphram itself was not torn . The little check ball seems OK and was not stuck.
I have the new gaskets and diaphram in there and have not tested it yet , but I am also not terribly confident that I have fixed the problem as everything was / is good in that regard ......it just doesnt feel like I have changed much.
Is there anything that I am missing ? what can cause an accelerator pump to fail other than items mentioned above
TIA
