OK I know this is a boating site and I have asked these ?s on appropriate forums elsewere but out of couriosity I am wondering if any body from Iboats may be able to answer these ?s I have. I have played guitar for 19 years, most of them in bands. I once again have put together a project but now I know chances of me becomeing a rockstar are slim. I am making a living off my music by giving lessons and I am at the point of trying some new stuff, like building a home recording studio. I am hoping since there are so many members here with such a huge amount of misc. knowledge maybe somebody could answer some questions for me. I needed a P.A. system but be strapped for cash I ended up with a behringer pmh 3000.....Ya I know behringer sux but I got a good deal and my Boss(wife) felt that due to price I could have it. Heres where the questions start. Im wondering how the effects loop would work on the mixer. I have Cakewalk homestudio and I want to mix the drums first through the mixer. I have a set of (I know they suck too) nady drum mics. If I were to buy a compressor unit could I put it through the effects loop on the mixer and would that give me compression on each channel also sorry for my ingnorace but If I were to buy a pre-amp would that also add to the quality of recording. Thanx in advance for any and all info anybody here gives.

Mike, wish I could help, but you are way beyond my knowledge. I still have not figured out how to get MIDI outputs for Cakewalk Pro 24. Therefore, I have no playback. When I go to choose a MIDI output, there is only one on the list called microsoft MIDI mapper, and cakewalk acts as though it does not recognize it.

Re: Home recording questions

Ok I think I have figured out my problem and done it cheaper then how i thought I would have to.....Im gonna get a multi channel(4 input) sound card ($100--$150) on my pc and Cake walk has the compressors and othe effects I need. My mixer has decent pre-amps i guess, so Im excited to know I can save alot and have better results by doing this. :) :D :) :D
