Someone gave me a Honda 20 4 stroke, built in 1986, model BF20, S/N 1014340. They said it was running when they parked it, so I changed the oil, checked the spark plug, and gave it a go! As you can guess, it didnt start
Ive cleaned the carburetor (soaking, little wires poked in all the holes, scraping junk out of the bowl), and Im confidant it is clean through and through. Looked at the valves and found intake valve hade some corrosion. Got valve compound and polished out the flaw. Im turning the motor with an electric drill (got tired of pulling), and all I get is backfiring. Once in a while Ill get lucky and it will run for as much as five seconds, but thats it. Here are my questions:
Q: How the heck do I make this thing go?
Q: What does the needle valve on the side of the carburetor do?
Q: Where should that valve be set?
Q: How many HP does this motor have?
Q: Is there anything else I missed?
Thanks for your help.

Drink up me hearties yo ho!
