I have a honda 4stroke 2001 50hp. I have kept up with regular maint. but was informed I should change impeller. Repair manual is on the way. Question is , do I need any seals or gaskets with this? I understand this to be fairly simple task. Engine has run just fine, no problems. Thanks

I have the same engine and have just done the immpellor for the first time, no problem.
My Honda dealer provided the kit every thing you need £17:00

The process is simple, and the manual will guide you through it. The Impeller Kit from Honda has all the parts you will need.

One thing you want to watch out for... you have to disconnect the shift linkage in order to drop the lower unit. Make sure you carefully mark where the shift coupler is. (It is an elongated nut that holds both rods together) If you reinstall it and its not adjusted correctly, the lower unit will slip out of gear when you least expect it. Its not rocket science, but it does pay to give it a bit of attention upon disassembly.

I learned this the hard way ;) ;) ;) It was an easy fix except for the embarassment :)

Nav
