Honda 9.8 air cooled ??

What is so special about a Honda 9.8 [air cooled] that one would buy it instead of a [ water cooled] Merc, Nissan, Tohatsu, etc. of the same size ?

There is no such thing as an air cooled 9.8 outboard on the American market or anywhere else that I am aware of.In fact Honda has never marketed a 9.8 and the only air cooled unit they have is thier 2 horse.They do however make a great water cooled 9.9 in a couple different incarnations over the years.

Thank you for that clarification. I don't know which web site that I mis-read the specs on the Honda but I couldn't imagine it would be as popular as it is and be water cooled. A lot of the fishing rigs here in N. Idaho have honda kickers and it makes one wonder what is unique about them that moves people to get them vs a Merc, Nissan, etc.

Nothing unique. Just good, reliable 4 stroke kickers.
