When trying to start engine I'm just getting a clicking noise. No power to starter, so jumped hot wire to starter and turned over fine. Is it the STARTER MAGNETIC SWITCH? Is that the same as a solanoid? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure battery is load tested and good. Clean and tighten all connection with wrench. If still no go jump 12v to wht/ tan wire going to solenoid (magnetic switch). If starter works test key switch and wire harness. If no go jump 12v to starter. If that works replace magnetic switch (solenoid).

we can assume your key switch works because you hear a click but no starter action.

follow all steps though so you dont waste monies on things you dont need.

load testing and connections are most important initial step.

Would just add that if it turned over fine when jumped there's probably nothing wrong with the battery.

Second thought, I am left wondering though, what do you mean by "jumped"?

Are you jumping across the 2 large terminals on the starter solenoid, running a cable right to the starter from a different battery, what?

Thanks for the reply. The battery is new, so I purchased a new solenoid. My question now is, how do you get the bottom bolt that holds the air cleaner off? I need to remove it to have room to replace the solenoid. Any help tips or tricks would be greatly appricatited.

I just use a 1/4" drive with a long extension, of whatever length you need to reach that bolt. Or maybe several extensions?

I can share that if you "forget" to reinstall it, you'll be the only one that knows.....
