Hot wiring a 3.0 on the garage floor

Wondering how I could start this motor out if the boat? Got fuel tank hooked up, got my battery hooked up. Tried just jumping it at the starter with my HF starter switch but it just cranked and didn't even try to fire. This has the EST ignition.

You forgot the wire to the + side of the coil

Put a jumper between pins 5 and 6 on the engine connector. Red/Purple to Purple

Just curious, would this procedure be the same for the distributorless ignition? I think its known as the DDIS

Yes, Merc uses the purple wire to apply power to the all motor circuits when key is turned ON
