I have a 1978 mark twain with a v8 inboard motor and am having a couple of different issues. (Please excuse my ignorance, I'no relatively new to the boating world)... One of the issues is that when Im cruising the boat wants to pull very hard left, I have to hold the steering wheel in place and it's realy diffixult to hold? Any idea?
Also, when I accelerate in reverse, the propeller keeps coming up out of the water? I have to keep trimming down to even reverse..... Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

It's a mercruiser... Other than that, I'm not sure where to find out what it is

it is an I/O. An inboard has a shaft to a propeller thru the bottom of the boat and no sterndrive.

Look just above the prop. You should see a grey skeg that can be adjusted.

I'll try to find the instructions and post back

Ok thanks for the help, I'll definitely try that... Any suggestion on the propeller coming up out of the water when I try and reverse?

Is the lower unit moving in relation to the transom mount? As in - the cylinders are extending under the force of the reverse direction? Where do you have your trim set normally? You may experiment with the trim settings. Too high and you are putting more downward force on the transom going forwards, and that may have the reverse affect when going backwards = prop starts lifting and sucking air. If the lower unit isn't staying put, though, you have bigger issues than trim.

Yeah when I put in reverse (I have the trim as low as it will go) and after 5seconds of going in reverse, it's forcing its way up out of the water.... I've heard that there is maybe some kind of reverse lock that isn't engaging? Ever heard of that?

Yep, turn the trailing edge of the tab in the direction it's pulling. In your case, you want the tab angled like it is in the vid...... It will push the drive to the right...
