Re: how do I fix a bent skeg?

Short answer: Carefully
Serious answer, 1 large and one small hammer. Use the large one on the back side of the bend and the small to hammer lightly on the bend. Gentle and slow. If it has too much of a bend it will break. If it is not a serious bend, leave it alone, does not hurt anything, serves no real purpose other than a little protection for the prop.
You can buy replacement repair kits that bolt on.

totally agree if not bent badly it is better left alone. there are millions of motors with bent skegs, still running strong.

I've seen the motor and the skeg has a crack on the back of the skeg just below the gearhousing. If he can get the skeg straightened out will J.B. Weld patch up the crack? The motor that Hardcorefishing has is a 60 hp. He said the motor pulls a bit because of the bend. Also it's too bent for the bolt on replacement to fit over it.

Thanks for any help he can get.
