I need some help getting the gimbal bearing out of my OMC Cobra drive. The gimbal is seized in a straight position, and I can't turn the assembly to be able to remove the main housing of the gimbal, so I'm working thru the bellows. The outdrive is off, and without it's leverage, it's next to impossible to turn the housing, so I can't get at the up/down pivot bolts to remove that housing. (the up/down pivots are working properly, and I think it's just the upper pivot for right/left turning that's seized up) I've got a 3-jaw puller in the gimbal bearing, and I've slammed away for nearly 3 hours unsuccessfully and also had a couple of neighbors give it a try. Still not so much as a mm of movement! I'm now just spraying penetrating oil on to the area every few hours....and hoping that somehow that might help. Area is badly corroded, and I fear that too much pressure may actually break the outer housing rendering it necessary to replace the whole transom assembly. Clearly I'd prefer NOT to do that! But, if anyone has any tricks they'd be willing to share.....PLEASE...let me know!! Also, same with any info about freeing up that upper pivot! Many thanks!
