Older keel rollers seemed to last longer, I have one trailer with 30 year old rollers and no cracks, yet I replaced the rollers on another trailer two years ago and their shot again, cracked right through to the shaft. Neither trailer really puts much load on the rollers, the bunks take most of the weight. The rollers are just there to keep the keel from contacting a crossmember when loading and unloading. I don't much care if they get hard, but when the split they have to go.
I used only use urethane rollers but they don't seem to last much longer, they get dark and brittle just like black rubber does, only rubber don't seem to fall apart as bad. The only good part about urethane rollers is that they don't mar the boat when they get older.

mfgniagara ... agreed!

In the past, as soon as rollers began to crack (which seems to happen most often to the 'gray' ones) I tossed 'em.

But where these are still solid (no cracks) rather than replace them ... I'll give them a second chance.

THANKS
