I anm going to convert from points to electronics 4 cylinder 470. How do I determine what the resistance is. The directions say 3.0 ohms. How do I test for this? Do I measure a wire? The coil has 0 ohms. There is mention of a resistance wire or ballast resistor. Could someone advise so I don't fry the electronics on first turn of the key? The new system is Pentronics. How do I mesasure to make sure I have 3 ohms?
Please help.

That engine has a resistance wire and will work fine a per the installation instrutions

OK...first of all the coil can't be zero ohms(unless it has a dead short inside), are you using a mechanical or digital meter? If mechanical put the 2 leads together and adjust the needle so it sits exactly on the zero, turn the meter to the lowest scale (usually 1xohm) and then check it again it should be a couple of ohms? You will need to know if you have a ballast resistor or a resistor wire, do you have a manual for your engine?

Just noticed you posted again with the same question, shouldn't really do that as it just makes things confusing.
