I know that is not their real name... but are there any fish experts in here? We have a 70 gallon freshwater tank in our office and in it has a sucker fish - one of those fish that sucks to the window and does whatever they do...

Do they clean the surface they're attached to? Or are they filtering the water?

Thanks,
Sean

ee depending on the fish you have, most are nocturnal. I used to have at least 2 in each tank; keep the glass, rocks, and plants (artificial) clean. Some like hiding places, rock pile or caves etc for the day. If dead I think it would fall off the side.

I used to have a 10 gallon tank with one of those things, it grew to over 9" long in a 10 gallon tank before it died! There was never any algea either. I thought it was dead several times before it finally died...it wouldn't move for days, then you touch it and it would fall off the glass and lay on the bottom. Went to scoop it out and it swam away...

Plicostomus is the name of that family...and yes, they eat mainly at night because algea blooms in light and dies without it..natural light, that is.
They prefer the slowly dying algea over the actively growing for some reason.

I got a new one the other day. I get one when the tank gets bad so they can eat the algae of the glass. Soon after, my cichlid eats them off the glass.

spots
