Not really needing help here, just thought ya'll might find this interesting....
Started the rewire today, and was taking a good looooong look at the diagram in the manuel (yes, it is the Johnson, on cd-rom) Chasing those black lines to see if what I have matches up; it'll make you cross-eyed.
The diagram shows the choke, temp warning light, and the power to the electric shift all coming off the same terminal of the key switch
I checked my key switch with the meter, and that circuit is closed only when the key is pushed in for choke. Which to my simple brain means the temp light and shifting only work while you choke the engine.
Needless to say, I won't wire it up by the book. It will go back the way it was, 'cause it worked!
