Re: How do you handle your daughters boyfriends?

The reason I worry is:<br /><br />1) A few weeks ago one boy in my daughters class was diciplined for trying to kiss my daughter. She came home and told us about it. Said she turned her head so he missed her lips. <br /><br />2) Last week she said she likes a boy on her bus and when she looks at him "I try to make hearts come out of my eyes like in cartoons..."<br /><br />All this at 6 yrs old. Oh brother.

The best thing that we can do for our collective daughters is raise kind respectful sons. I have one of each so wish me luck

Re: How do you handle your daughters boyfriends?

My youngest, when she was very little (2yrs old), liked to ride the vacuum cleaner every chance she got.<br /><br />It just got worse from there.<br /><br />But with openess and good training, we managed to survive teen years, when they know everything, but don't know anything.<br /><br />Once they get into their 20's, they still know everything, but at least they actually do know something. But training is the key--they have to learn to make good decisions--unfortunately making all decisions for them is not a workable plan.

I have a son, so he is being taught to be respectful. Although, he told me yesterday that he didn't want to get married until he is 90. He is 9 now. :) <br /><br />When we were kids, my little sister and I used to wrestle all the time. I am 6' 3" and she is 5' 7", I taught her how to take care of herself. One night one of her boyfriends decided she needed to be taught how to act. She beat his a$$ silly in front of his friends. :D <br /><br />Edit: She was 16 at the time.

Always be cleaning a shotgun when they come over. Twitch a bit, and mention how your Agent Orange starts to act up around 11pm, and after that, his car sounds like Charlie landing a helo in the yard.

Re: How do you handle your daughters boyfriends?

I have twelve and sixteen year old sons. From what I have noticed so far I have to question what in the world parents of teenage girls are thinking these days ? Forget the TV commercials about cell phones being the same thing as being there....they're not ! We had to go out of our way to talk to and meet the parents of the girl our 16 year old has dated in the past year. It started with our son talking about his "girlfriend". We had never met her, and when she actually appeared at our house we were kind of shocked (this was more than a school time crush). What was more shocking was that her parents simply dropped her off at our house.....we had no phone conversations and had never met her parents. I have to ask, if you had a daughter, wouldn't you want to talk to the boys parents to get a "feel for them" and to make sure that your daughters visit was actually supervised by parents ? We were ready for this and have rules in place (no closed doors, parents can and will enter any room at any time, etc.) but her parents didn't even check on any of this....for all they knew, we were not at home and the kids had the house to themselves????? I know times have changed, but for God's sake, would you drop your daughter at some boy's house wilthout talking to or meeting his parents first ?
